Halloween Event!

This sort of thing will happen again next halloween, so keep an eye out for it! This will be updated with new info at that time.

I'm pleased to announce my Halloween event!

Unsurprisingly, it will be a ZOMBIE themed event, with the players competing for the highest zombie kill count, lowest kill/death ratio, and most pumpkins collected, in a medieval maze of DEATH!

Teamplay will be encouraged, but you'd best choose your friends wisely...

The winners of the three categories will be able to choose one perk from the following list:

  • Increased radiation resistance
  • MV solar array in ANY WORLD you choose.
  • Decreased survival kit cooldown time
  • Upgraded survival kit contents
  • Flashlight!
Estimated time of the event is from 8pm to 10pm Eastern Standard Time, on October 31st.

Towny requirements [to be updated more]

Towny towns will need to meet a certain minimum level of active membership to avoid being disbanded.

Residents will be purged from towns after 30 days of inactivity; this includes mayors and assistants.  Plot will be unclaimed, and access will be lost to any secures within that town.

Towns must have a single active player within a 30 day window or face deletion.

Any town with mayor/assistants absent longer than 2 weeks may have another town mayor appointed as assistant if any internal town issue arises that requires admin/mod intervention.

These rules are, of course, subject to change/clarification.

Recent changes

Some of the recent changes:

  • Outlands Nether is up.  There's a ladder to a portal at Outlands spawn.
  • Timer minimum latency is 2 seconds.
  • MAJOR griefing update at Outlands griefing.
  • Scrapboxes disabled PERMENANTLY.  Cobble generators are disabled temporarily to prevent overflows.  Please either remove cobblegens or redirect to an appropriate location like chest or incinerator to avoid overflows from auto crafting tables.  Any overflowing generators will be disabled to one extent or another.
  • Town spawn commands now require (and consume) a compass and have a short cooldown.

Outlands difficulty updates [updated]

The Outlands will be seeing some significant updates in terms of difficulty in the coming weeks.

ECLIPSES will be enabled, which will be extended periods (hours or days) of complete and utter darkness.  Mobs will be much more fearless during eclipses...

SOLAR FLARES will be enabled, which will be extended periods (hours or days) of daylight, with the potential for mobs spawns at much higher than normal light levels.  Background radiation levels will be increased dramatically.  Crafting failures when creating higher-tier machines may be possible due to damage to delicate circuitry by the solar storms.  Solar panels may malfunction or behave erratically during these events. - Partly done; may never be completed

RADIOACTIVE HOTSPOTS will be enabled and randomly spawn, with generally lethal effects.  No considerations will be made for impact on player towns or spawn.  If you find yourself within the range of a radioactive hotspot either seek cover or rely on your armor to protect you, but be warned radiation takes a heavy toll on armor durability.  These hotspots decrease over time, and eventually disappear completely. - Being re-added

Mob difficulty will increase dramatically the farther you are from spawn, or during certain hours, or for any number of other reasons.  Special mob attacks will be enabled which will be hugely inconvenient, overpowered, unfair, and just generally obnoxious, and vast majority of these attacks have NOT been seen on the server before.  The type and frequency of these special attacks will be dynamic and can change at any time - Done; may add more
